Was it worth it?
Hey everyone...
Ok, so I wanted to make a thread, something simple to talk about, but diffrent from all those "What is the...(worst/best/most difficult/easiest/ bla bla bla) threads.
Anyway, recently I hit 3K hours milestone that I invested into this game. And many more hours that I spent on forums, talking about it. So, I'm wondering, was it worth it?
That's a lot of time blown on something, just imagine what could you do with it if you invested it into something diffrent. But you didn't, you played this game. And, was it worth it? If you ask me, I think it was.
But what is your opinion on your own example? Did you enjoy this game enough to justify all that time spent ingame and on Guru? Do you regret it, or would you do it all over again?
(P.S. Please don't turn this into another flame fest. This is not a thread to discuss the game itself, is it good or bad, or better then WoW (lol), but more about how you feel about the time you dedicated to GW).

Every hour you enjoy in life is worth it. Be it in a game or with real life experiences. If you're not harming any one else, why should it matter to them what you enjoy?

I also think it was worth it. You need to do sometimes things only for your enjoyment (rather than only utilitaristic things) and I'd say GW was the enjoyment for me. (: I'd do it all over again!

yes and no.....I would have been very happy had this game never been made (and then I wouldnt be soo addicted to it now!). I have spent time playing this game instead of reading books and watching the tons of anime I have piled up. (its my fault yes I know, but as a lazy pessimistic depressed person I use excuses when I can get them).
I have enjoyed learning new things, I have made a few friends, I had a blast in the tmw contest.....these things would not have happened so ...
in the end, yeah it was worth it.

Much as I dislike a lot of the current GW situation, I do feel it was time well spent, and wish I'd chosen to play when it first came out.

When I first started playing, yes. I haven't notched up many hours compared to somepeople though. 1300-1400 hours tops. Good 1/3 of those were afk/doing nothing.
I don't regret playing, but I could have done better things with the my time.
Some old school people I know are talking about making a GW2 come back, but by that time I'll be in my mid/late 20's, and hopefully I'll have better things to do with my spare time.

Sorry, I tend to not read all of the post anymore habit when 99% of Riverside threads are the same.
Being a mod wasn't so bad at times. I don't regret that either, but maybe I shouldn't have put in so many hours.
Maybe Inde regretted it though

sure it was worth it!
i am a manager at the tuxedo rental department, so the whole day i spend talking with people about really, everything. fix problems, tell off employees, get told off by costumers and then by the same employees, help planing parts of weddings, galas, cruises, chat about all kinds of things the whole day all while being careful about staying professional.
when i come home after the long ride and get all my home chores done, i have my little imaginary perfect world where everything works out how i plan it to, and if it doesn't, who cares?! ill just restart! i sit at my PC and talk to people that have no idea or interest in tuxedo rental! amazing isnt?
then my boyfriend comes home, eats and signs on and we get to run around my imaginary world together before going to sleep!
GW = great way to relax and get my mind of everyday stress.

I broke my neck in two places in an RTA in 2005 and had to have surgery etc , GW has helped me through two years of recovery, (nearly back to normal ), so yeah the 4k + hours have been more than worth it.

Well, I'm up to 2,550 hours ingame (with probably close to 1,000 of those spent AFK), and I'm sure I've matched that total spent on Guru. I must say, I do not regret the ingame hours at all, but I do regret the Guru time. However, what I feel is wasted time is a whole different story. 95% of the time I am on Guru, I'm at work with nothing better to do. 95% of the time spent ingame, I probably could have spent doing more productive things.
So... I'm in a bit of a conundrum, really. I have mixed feelings. With my personality, though, I doubt I would have done the more productive things even without GW; I'd just find a different scapegoat. I'm such a procrastinator. So yeah, I had fun with these thousands of hours of scapegoat. Wouldn't give it up for anything.

I've blown a large chunk of time on the game, but it was fun and relaxing, so it was free time well spent. They could erase the servers tomorrow and it wouldn't change that.

Yes it was worth it. Best 3k hours in 31 months I've ever spent on gaming. As for doing something else, I dunno, I'd probably could've spent that same amount of time working at the gym. Though I would be a massive muscle-bound freak. Not that I'm too far away from it now. LOL No I don't use hgh either.
